Meet John – a pool builder who is passionate about his work.
He takes pride in creating backyard oases that his clients can enjoy for years to come. But when it comes to digital marketing, John is lost. He doesn’t understand how to use social media, what search engine optimization (SEO) is, and has hasn’t updated his website in about three years.
John has been relying on word-of-mouth referrals to keep his business afloat but recently, a new pool builder has opened up in his area and is much more active on social media, has a shiny new website, and has been running paid ads on Google.
At first, John isn’t worried because he’s established and he is still ranking higher on Google but soon enough John starts to notice his phone isn’t ringing as much.
After a few months, John does a Google search for “pool builder near me” and sees the new company is now out ranking him.
At this point, he has no idea how this happened or what he can do to get back on top. His thoughts begin to spiral and he wonders how he will be able to support his family and employees in the coming years.
